Expertise

DUNE core business is focussed on the design and development of real-time processing systems, with expertise gained on the realisation of applications for both civilian and military customers. The Company develops real-time hardware solutions assisting the customer from the pre-requirements definition phase, through the design, optimisation (cost/performance) and development, up to the validation and final testing phase, in compliance with the Company certified quality standard ISO-9001. The nature of the real time HW applications developed so far spans from single DSP on single commercial boards to multiple DSP on self-manufactured boards.

The firm gained expertise in wireless communication by providing solutions and consultancy for large private customers and also by participating in the European Commission co-funded projects: IST-SATURN project (IST-1999-10322), IST-ROMANTIK project (IST-2001-32549) and MAST-SWAN project (Shallow Water Acoustic communication Network).

Role

DUNE will participate in WP6 (transmit and receive architecture development), in WP8 (evaluation of implementation complexity) and in WP9 dealing with dissemination and assessment. In WP6, DUNE will work in close cooperation with UPC, by providing the practical implementation perspective required to pass from algorithms written in high level language (e.g. MATLAB ) to the evaluation of hardware complexity. In WP8, DUNE will work in close cooperation with the base station equipment manufacturer (NET) and the network operator (TEL).
