FUNDP - University of Namur, Computer Science Institute
Expertise
The Institute of Informatics is the largest Computer Science faculty in Belgium. Its staff comprises 16 full-time professors and about 60 researchers. It has graduated more than 1,300 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students since 1973. Research is performed in the fields of databases, user-machine interfaces, software engineering and telecommunications. Recently, the Institute contributed to the IEEE 802.11n standardisation process by extending METRA link-level MIMO channel model to WLAN scenarios. This model is currently used by 350+ third parties.
Jointly with AAU, FUNDP has recently participated to the extension of the METRA link-level MIMO channel model designed for UMTS investigations to WLAN scenarios according to IEEE 802.11n specifications. Both channel models have been made publicly available, and are used nowadays by a grand total of more than 350 third parties. They will also serve as the foundation of the research activities in WP6.
Role
FUNDP's main contribution is in WP2 and it is twofold. Firstly, FUNDP will develop a MIMO channel model based on existing models possibly enriched with data from measurements. Secondly, FUNDP will define the prediction strategy of that channel model for the optimal transmit-receive designs of WP3, WP4 and WP5.
