WP6. Transmit and Receive Architectural Development
This WP focuses on the technological aspects required to accommodate the optimal solutions obtained in WP3, WP4 and WP5, mainly theoretical solutions for different QoS under different degrees of channel knowledge, to simpler and faster algorithms more suitable for practical applications. Therefore, one of the main objectives of this WP is the definition and software implementation of those suboptimal algorithms for packet transmission services envisioned for the 3G system long term evolution in which a collection of homogeneous networks. The network aspects of the algorithm implementation such as global QoS requirement definition, usually specified in terms of bit error rates and/or delay transmission, or estimation and signalling of the QoS studied in WP2, are also taken into account.
Additionally, since the transmitter and receiver algorithms implemented in this WP should be developed for a single cell/network perspective, the identification of what level of re-configurability can be achieved in practice will be studied as well. Specifically, the co-existence in the same cell of users with different degree of CSI and, in consequence, different transmission and reception schemes, should be taken into account.
Finally, this WP will be complemented by a specific activity addressed to the computational optimisation of the devised algorithms from the hardware implementation perspective.
